Between the Gate of Jade and the River of Gold a soldier's life toils year after year,
Engaging in battles and drills with a horse whip and a glaive day after day.
In March comes spring, yet snow continues to fall on Zhaojun's grave,
I've marched around sable mountains and seen the Yellow River thousands of miles rave.
