The sound of bugle fades in the skies of high autumn,
Standing guard on the watch tower are relaxed soldiers.
Breezes brush through the one and only green mound,
The white-hot sun sets over the remoteness of Liangzhou.
The Great Desert hasn't seen war nor action of late,
The isolated borders now see travellers come and go.
Let us hope that the Hun's submission is like this river,
Forever willing to southwards flow.
