Trees shed their leaves as wild geese southwards migrate,
The northerlies across the river blow and chills send.
My hometown lies on a bend on River Han,
My gaze towards my distant native soil could only on clouds over the land of Chu rest.
I have cried enough homesick tears over my wayfaring years,
Alone on a skiff I raise my head to the sky stare.
I have lost my way and seek to someone ask, but there is not a soul
On these waters that stretch on endlessly in the glow of sunset.
